Settlement of Consumer Protection Lawsuit Against Shein for Unlawful Shipping Delays
Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez, along with the District Attorneys of Napa, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Counties, announced today the settlement of a consumer protection lawsuit against Shein, a global ecommerce company specializing in “fast fashion.” Defendants will pay a total of $700,000 in civil penalties and investigative costs to settle the civil law enforcement complaint, which alleged the defendants engaged in unlawful business practices by failing to properly notify consumers or offer them refunds when their orders failed to ship on time. Sonoma County plans for reenvisioned government center by 2030
Within five years, County employees will have offices in a new five-story office building being planned for the current County Government Center at 585 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa. That was the vision that was presented to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today. Read full story

Sonoma County has submitted a final application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to revise the flood insurance study and floodplain maps for the Todd Creek watershed, which is near the Highway 101 corridor between Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park. Read full story

Permit Sonoma updates permit time limits to align with state law
Permit Sonoma is updating its time limits for permits to comply with recent changes in California state law. Under the new policy, issued permits may now expire if work does not begin within 12 months or if there is a 12-month lapse in progress. Permit Sonoma previously had a three-year permit term to complete the project. Recent state legislation now mandates a 12-month timeframe statewide. Read full story
Sonoma County achieves record-high net assessment roll of more than $127 billion
Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor Deva Marie Proto announced today that the county’s net assessment roll has reached an all-time high of $127,016,463,045. This marks a 5.44 percent increase compared to last year’s assessment roll, reflecting the value of all real and business property in Sonoma County as of Jan. 1. The 2025-26 assessment roll has been officially delivered to the Sonoma County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector. Read full story
