Sonoma County reports $857.6 million in agricultural production for 2024; highlights resilience of poultry producers, shifts in grape and apple markets

Woman Sentenced to 5 Years and 4 Months State Prison for Embezzlement from Prior Employer, Amaturo Media Group
The Sonoma County District Attorneys’ Office announced the sentencing of Tina Cabudoy for embezzlement from her former employee, Amaturo Media Group, following her plea in late July of this year. The Honorable Troye Schaffer sentenced Cabudoy to 5 years and 4 months in state prison. Cabudoy was further ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $179,306.98. Read full story
Robert Pittman, Sonoma County Counsel, announces retirement after 35 years of public service
After 35 years in public service, including the past 14 years with the County of Sonoma, County Counsel Robert Pittman has announced his retirement, effective January 2026. Pittman has served as County Counsel since September 2020, guiding the Office of County Counsel through significant challenges and milestones. He began his career as a city planner in Artesia, California, before attending law school with the goal of becoming a public agency attorney. Read full story
Settlement of Consumer Protection Lawsuit Against Tax Network USA & Partners, Inc. for Deceptive Mailers
Sonoma County District Attorney Carla Rodriguez, along with the District Attorneys of Napa, San Diego, and San Francisco Counties, announced today the settlement of a consumer protection action against Tax Network USA & Partners, Inc. (“Tax Network”), a California-based tax relief company. During the time period at issue in this case, Tax Network marketed its services by sending unsolicited mailers to taxpayers who had at one time been subject to outstanding tax liens. As alleged in the complaint, the mailers were deceptive because they implied a connection with or approval or endorsement of government agencies, including the local county recorders offices and taxing authorities, which Tax Network did not have. Westside Road reopens Aug. 28 as Sonoma County nears completion of major storm recovery project
Nearly seven months after an atmospheric river dropped a deluge of rain on Sonoma County, causing massive destruction and tragically claiming two lives, the first of six critical road repair projects is nearing full completion. Westside Road in Forestville will reopen on Thursday, August 28, at noon including a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Sonoma County Public Infrastructure to mark the milestone. Read full story

This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections and archives located within Sonoma County. Nominees located within the boundaries of Sonoma County and practicing the collection and preservation of historical records for the promotion of history and cultural preservation qualify for the award.
